Before revelation came to him, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself earned his living as a trader, ‘Al Amin’ ‘The Trustworthy’. It is the example of his noble and honourable character that Muslim’s should follow in their day to day transaction, earning and spending of wealth.
The Prophet Muhammad was asked what the best kind of earning was, he replied: That for which a man works with his hands and honest trading (Ibn Hanbal)
An honest and trustworthy merchant will be (raised) with the Prophets, the truthful and the martyrs. (At-Tirmidhi)
BUSINESS & ICT DEPARTMENT
The Business department works very closely with ICT department as 25% of the Business studies course is ICT related. Most teaching takes place in our brand new ICT suite.
AQA GCSE Business Studies
Business Studies introduces pupils to the dynamics of how a business is set up and organised. It puts individuals in a much better position to enter the world of work within some form of business organisation. The courses offered also provide opportunities for the development of key skills such as ICT, team working and communication. Many pupils who study business studies in KS4 go on to study business and related courses within further and higher education institutions.
Business Studies is an optional subject chosen at the end of year 9 with exams sat at the end of year 11. All pupils are enrolled to study AQA GCSE Business Studies Full course (FC) or transfer over to GCSE Business Studies Short course (SC). All units covered provide pupils with the opportunity to explore the theories and concepts in the context of events in the business world.
Unit 1: Setting up a business
(FC) Exam: Written Paper (1 hour) 60 marks / 40%
(SC) Exam: Written Paper (1 hour) 40 marks / 50%
This unit introduces students to issues concerning the setting up and operation of a business. It explores the activities of business and the reasons for success or failure. It encourages students to appreciate that businesses must operate within society and that this involves businesses engaging with a wide range of stakeholders who will hold differing perspective

Starting a Business, Marketing, Finance, People in Business, Operation Management
Unit 2: Growing as a business
(FC only)Exam: Written Paper (1 hour) 60 marks / 35%
This unit builds upon the content of Unit 1, allowing candidates to study businesses as they grow and the issues that expansion raises. This unit considers how the methods of expansion and objectives of larger businesses might differ from smaller businesses.
In this unit pupils will study:
Business Organisation, Marketing, Finance, People in Business, Operation Management
Unit 3: Investigating Businesses
(FC) Controlled assessment: 40 marks / 25%
(SC) Controlled assessment: 40 marks / 50%
This unit is a controlled assessment unit and assesses the subject content in Unit 1 Business Start up. The pupil would need to in-depth research a small local business and investigate on a given business area. The report will then be written up in controlled conditions focusing on all areas of the criteria which includes recommendations and conclusions
